Colored Lights Coming To The Ringling Bridge

The Ringling Bridge over Sarasota Bay will have its own colorful light show beginning this fall.

When the Sunshine Skyway lights up in October, the Ringling Bridge gets a new look, too.

The existing fixtures on the Ringling Bridge needed to be replaced so the State Department of Transportation will install new programmable LED lights.

At night, the causeway will turn different colors as it curves across Sarasota Bay. The anticipated effect is more soothing than today’s harsh lighting.

Jim Jacobsen, a District Bridge Engineer with FDOT in Tampa shares, “It’s like a slow roll. The lights slowly change through all the colors of the spectrum.”
